Orphans are People Too

Tara was introduced to me by a friend, and frankly her story inspires me to continue fighting the good fight, long into that good night...

To Whomever this may Concern,

My name is Tara Ahluwalia and I am a freshman at the Lexington High School in Boston, MA.

I am an adopted child from India. It never really affected me that I was adopted until recently, when I actually got to go back to my orphanage and see what the living conditions were like.

It's an abomination. Not only are the children lacking a proper, nutritious meal plan- they also do not have a recognized health care provider, or even formal schooling. All this adds up to the failure of an orphan. If they do not get correct nutrition through out their childhood, they will grow up

The children screem again, but is anyone listening?

Chad: No Protection from Rape and Violence for Displaced Women and Girls in eastern Chad

This is a letter I modifed to the UNSC, after being made aware of their continued inaction by Amnesty Internation. I seriously believe The UNSC take to the Hague and perhaps hanging a few at high noon. That will make the rest fall in line!

The prime directive of the UN Security Council is “to maintain international peace and security in accordance with the principles and purposes of the United Nations;” Thus please do not be offended that I find The UN Security Council to be a joke. You have failed miserably to bring any kind of security to our beautiful world. You have in your ignorance, partisan politics, and prostration to the US, damaged the fine balance which keeps countries honest to one another. In the name of a one world government you have brought anarchy (Sirs, you are nothing but a bunch of bullies)!

The ONE Campaign

ONE is Americans of all beliefs and every walk of life – united as ONE – to help make poverty history. We are a campaign of over 2.4 million people and growing from all 50 states and over 100 of America’s most well-known and respected non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations. As ONE, we are asking our leaders to do more to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty. ONE believes that allocating more of the U.S. budget toward providing basic needs like health, education, clean water and food would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the world's poorest countries.

Fifth anniversary of the first prisoners being sent to the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Today is the fifth anniversary of the first prisoners being sent to the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. On January 11, 2002, twenty men in handcuffs, shackles and wearing hoods, arrived at Guantanamo in a plane from Afghanistan.

The Bush administration created a new category of "enemy combatant" for these men captured in the so-called "war on terror." Since then, more than 750 men and boys from 40 countries have been imprisoned at Guantanamo. Not one of them has been put on trial. Hundreds have been released and sent home. Meanwhile, three have committed suicide at least 40 others have tried to do so and there are concerns about the mental health of most of the 400 or so remaining prisoners. Accounts of prisoner abuse and torture have been condemned around the world.

The world is at its end

My brother, my sweet sister,

The world is at its end. How do I know? Because my soul is crying in fury and anger. It weeps for what I have done to this world. It weeps that I have let selfish people teach me that selfishness is simply loving my self, and in this way it is my God given right to trample and take that which I wish and only thing of my self. I am truly ashamed of that.

It is only now that I ask, how can the babe, who's stomach is eating itself, love himself? Any man who says that a hungry child dose not need an individual to give selfless love, speaks from selfishness.

This is how I know the world is at its end. You and I, are no longer in control. The system has you. I do not know if it is, or perhaps someday will be, aware of itself; but for now it is an animal moving on pure instinct (I hope). But here is what I do know, it's success is based on these three premise:

From WOW to reality

"I'm loving it. Can it be that each of these revolutions, are but a practicing ground in which some day, each of use will achieve in our existence that life which we truly seek in fantasy. I suppose I am asking, how do you make the fantasy become reality? After all is that not the role of imagination, which God has endowed us with?"

I wrote, in an email to my WOW (World of Warcraft http://www.worldofwarcraft.com ) buddies, in response to a previous nights adventures. WOW is an online MMORPG (Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game) in which you create a character (avatar or toon to use nomenclature), interact with a world of magical creatures, of which you are one, and complete quests to improve your avatar's strength and skill. My main toon is a Night Elf Druid healer, who loves to fish ( I love to fish in the game, it is very meditative).

There is not intellectual property

Everything you are is because someone taught you something. You can perhaps see this in your own child, mimicking, what the two of you are teaching, whether you are aware of it or not. Someone taught the painter how to stroke his brush just right, to make the softness of the skin glow. Someone showed the musician those cords that made his song famous.

We do not create in darkness; instead, creation is an amalgamation of many wisps of thought coming together from the unconscious to the conscious, like a spindle making thread. Everything you have ever seen, heard, tasted, felt, and remembered, now tugs at your consciousness, as every particle of this universe pulls on ever other.
